It is no surprise that Lesvos has also been established one of the best birdwatching locations in Europe! Greek philosopher Aristotle spent many years with his colleague Theophrastus at the Pyrrha lagoon, now known as the Gulf of Kalloni, where he studied the flora and fauna. His observations were the basis for the very first treatise of biology. His work is the precursor to Linnaean taxonomy and scientific methodology. Lesvos is the ideal place to try sailing and scuba diving, where nature helps us explore unspoilt hidden paradises, come close to sea creatures like dolphins, seals, sea turtles, sea birds… and most of all, “explore ourselves”.
